The Group's first major project was to record
the memorial inscriptions in all cemeteries
in Noosa Shire. These records have been published
in book form and are available at $25 plus
postage. Extracts of records can be provided
for a modest fee. Email the Group at the
address below or snail mail to the address
on the Home Page. An Index will be added
to this site as soon as it is compiled.
This index is divided into Burials and Cremations. Each surname is shown once only but mostly represents multiple records.
There are 1,252 names for Burials and 474 for Cremations.
Betty Sutton presented the first two books of transcriptions at the regular meeting of the Group in June, 2000. Betty advises that there are prospects of further interviews in this project so watch this space. Extracts from these transcripts are available for a modest fee. Email the Group at the address below or snail mail to the address on the Home Page.
THE NOOSA DISTRICT PIONEER INDEX.
Covering the areas of Cooran, Cooroy, Cootharaba, Kin Kin, Pomona, Tewantin and Noosa. It will include any adult who lived there from the beginning of settlement in the 1860s up to and including 1929. Descendants and families are invited to submit Pioneer names and occupations with place and time of residence. Name and address of informant will be included for reference. To receive further information and a record sheet email the Group at the address below or snail mail to the Group's Research Officer at the address on the Home Page.
The Index already contains 2,000 names - perhaps your family is already listed? Can we help you?
This continuing project commenced in July, 1997 and involves the collation of the Family Notices (births, deaths, marriages, engagements, etc.) from the Sunshine Coast Daily. Indexing of names has recently commenced. The first 18 months of the index runs to almost 100 A4 pages. It will be a continually growing index and too cumbersome to post here but searches of this index can be made for a modest fee. Email the Group at the address below or snail mail to the address on the Home Page.
This list is updated twice a year. If you have an interest in any name shown you may write to the Group at the address on the Home Page, enclosing a stamped, self addressed envelope, or email to the address below and your message will be passed on to the member concerned. Be sure to mention the bracketed number at the end of the entry as this is the identification of the member.
